so for break im not going directly to san diego but going to the bay area first to spend christmas with my grandma and cousins. my ride down to the bay area leaves december 18th in the morning, but my family doesnt get into the bay till december 23rd. i dont really want to spend 5 days at my grandma’s house cuz theres nothing to do. so boring. so i was thinking i’ll get dropped off in richmond and just take the bart around the bay area to find something to do. i’ll go to berkley and stay at my friends place and i’ll just walk around the embarcadero in downtown san fran. just lookin for somethin to do.

fishtank

for my roomate’s birthday we suprised him by buying him a 83 dollar fish tank. we set it up, put the fish in, and got it running all by the time he returned to arcata from orange county. he was really suprised. the only problem is what we should do with the fish over christmas break. we cant feed it and we cant really run the fish tank when we’re in so cal for a month. we were thinking about just giving them back to the store and getting some neew fish when we get back.

done with portfolio

finally done with my portfolio and going to english 100. now i get to sleep in and just count down the days till christmas break. overall my experience in this class was a success. im glad i got it out of the way but now comes COMM 100 which isint really any better. now just need 3 more blog posts and im done.

christmas is coming up and i am really excited. christmas day is also my birthday. however, i am not the person that gets excited about the presents, but just the fact that i get to see all my family and spend some quality time with them. im meeting them in the bay area and we’re spending christmas with my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. then im driving down to san diego with them and get almost a month off to spend with my family and friends. me and my friends have already planned out a snow boarding trip to mammouth. gonna be fun.

the weather up here is getting more and more cold. I walk outside with shorts and a t shirt and cant feel my nose 3 minutes later. its nothing like san diego. this morning i woke up and found frost all over the ground. It is something i’ve never really seen before. I’ve only been in snow twice in my life. i thought it didn’t snow here cuz we’re on the coast but from what i hear it snows like twice a year. can’t wait for that.

Break in San Diego

I spent my 10 days for break in San Diego. I got to see my friends and family that I haven’t seen since July. I went to my old high school’s football game and got to see my former teammates and coaches. As for Thanksgiving, I think i ate too much. I was full till the next night. Directly after our thanksgiving dinner, I had trouble getting up cuz of how much food I ate. Although it felt good to go back home, it feels just as good to be here back at Humboldt.

Thanksgiving weekend

It is monday, and my 10 days of freedom are almost here. I am taking a bus down to Oakland and then taking a plane later that night out of Oakland Airport. But i somehow need to find my way from the bus station to Oakland airport. And i dont wanna end up walking in downtown oakland with all my luggage. Does anyone know if there’s a Bart Station or a trolley that takes you there? However, after all that is over, I am finally gonna be able to sleep in my own bed and eat a home cooked meal. And sleep in.

Football Season

It is November 4th and the end of the football season is right around the corner. It’s gonna feel weird not going to practice everyday after class. I’m going to have a lot more time on my hands and i still don’t know what to do with it.

transition to college

My transition to college was rough at first. I came here from San Diego unprepared (packed my stuff three hours before my flight left), not knowing anyone that goes here, and not knowing what to expect. And the second I got to Humboldt, I was homesick. However through the last two and a half months, I have learned to appreciate the small town and scenery Humboldt has to offer. Back in San Diego, everything was a lot more stressful. With traffic, high prices, air pollution, and everything involved with a city. With Humboldt I saw a change. Everything is more relaxed and laid back and people are a lot nicer.

weather part 2

I wrote a blog earlier in the month about how we’re not getting enough rain and how there was a lot more sun than i thought. This past week I finally felt it get a lot colder and a lot more necessary to we’re better clothes. I came from San Diego with a bunch of shorts and t shirts, taking the weather here for granted. With more of the cold air coming in, i start to see my breathe in the air and notice by body start to shiver. I need to get some warmer clothes or I just won’t last here at Humboldt.
